If some of you live in subdivisions with tennis courts, check policy. Also, if some of you live in apartment complexes, get together and play there. I have a number of friends in both types of locations in North Raleigh.

Here's an idea. Play with Peach at CTP. The mouse trap is already built. There are member players playing both R-D and Peach.

Someone above commented our wait lists sometimes seem longer than the guest list. Fact is, we've had waitlists in the 13-17 range. But between drops from the guest list and acquiring additional courts we've managed to get everyone in. My point is, if you get on the waitlist regardless how massive it might seem, 12-month statistics indicate you have an 83% chance of getting on court with Peach. Conversely, if you don't place yourself on the waitlist, you have a 0% chance of getting in.

Hey Kavitha!
This is still a great idea. I think we should go ahead a form a meetup group for us in this area. We could check with Cary/Durham area depts of recreation and see where we could get weekly courts. I'm available after 6p M/T/W/F ,all day Saturday and Sunday mornings and evenings.

Hey Jeff,
I have already called them up and pretty much all of them have a strict "no reservation, first come first serve" rule. The only courts that are available to us are the ones at CTP (last time we played there, I think it was you, me, Dave and Mark if I remember it correctly, I had so much fun). I like CTP, the courts are well maintained and besides its a prime "people-watching-and-making-fun-of-them" territory. That's the only place where there is no dearth of people who would dress up in very very expensive tennis apparel, color coordinated and all but couldn't even hit a ball over a net into a box, just kidding, maybe not :-)

Do you have any other suggestions?

In the mean time you could sign up for "Triangle tennis partners" and try to find players near cary/apex/durham.

Hi folks, I guess I'll finally chime in. We have the ability to reserve courts through Durham Parks & Recreation. The cost is $5 per hour per court. Last year we held Durham events and we were able to get 12-16 people at each event (http://www.rdutennis.... to view Thursdays in May 2009). To account for no-shows and balls, the event fee would have to be at least $4.

With regards to Cary, I have long maintained that out of support for the Peach Tennis League Meetup Group, I would refrain from holding events at the Cary Tennis Center. I understand that this is the only place in Cary where courts can be reserved, but since us and Peach are volunteer organizations, our focus has always been to not undermine each others efforts.

We have 159 members identified as Cary, Morrisville or Apex residents. Of them, 93 have visited the website this year and 71 of those have attended at least one event.

We have 126 members identified as Durham residents. Of them, 63 have visited the website this yea and 49 of those have attended at least one event.

I wish you much success in fulfilling your tennis needs.

I have set up morning Cary tennis but not too many are coming. I can set up an evening Middle Creek or other public location if people are interested. But many times, people ask for it... but then never come.

So I have finally convinced the manager at Morrisville Acquatic center to rent out their tennis courts for our meetups Yay!! I am going to meet her again sometime early next week to work out details like price/day/time etc. They have 3 courts and we can use them all.

And the sweet part of the deal is we calso get access to their SWIMMING Pool and shower rooms! Double Yay!!

So I just got an email from the lady at the Acquatic center and she said that the best her manager can do is 4$ ( (BOO!!)per person for 2 hrs but we are goign to get all the 3 courts. Aren't community centers supposed to promote community building activites? double Boo!!CTP charges about the same for crying out loud.

I told her it wasn't going to work so lets wait and see if she is goign to come back with a better offer. I am holding an event tommorrow (for a different meetup) over there just to see how it goes. Will update you guys.

OK so here is the run down on the courts

The MAC (for people who have trouble guessing acronyms ist Morrisville Acquatic center) has 3 tennis courts and one of them has a very deep crack running right through the middle of it, the courts felt small (I am sure that was just my mind playing tricks) and the bounce was not consistent probably because of all those cracks, felt like we were playing on clay minus the fun of sliding and getting dirty. And ofcourse I am still pissed at the fact that they are trying to rip us off and they close their pool at 8.30, so i don't think its worth it. But if any of you are interested they have a good deal going, you pay 69$ for 4 months and you get to use all of their equipment (they have a small gym, some boxing sand bags, pool, racquetball court, dead tennis courts and basketball court) for free

So my search continues....

I was actualy thinking that we could just go to Godbold park, they have 6 courtsw and all are well mainatained and after 8 most of them are available.
